Personally i'd go with the MBP option since the Penryn came out not too long ago and the updates are sure sweet as hell! I have the same MacBook configuration as yours and tbh it's just not enough for me. (Photo and video post-processing)

But since you're looking for a cost effective way i reckon you should just get a 1TB drive. I see no point upgrading the internal HDD too unless you're the "on-the-go" type. :)

Thanks NTT for the advice. I went to check out the new iMovie, and true enough, iMovie HD is better and more comprehensive.

So if I should buy mbp, i'll probably end up installing iMovie HD instead. Hmm... so maybe I shan't buy it. Arghhh... still considering about it. Been sick for 2 days, brain not thinking right.

Hmm.. Do you need to do your video/music/image editing on the go?? Otherwise any desktop is a much better and cheaper option for these apps. You could think of having a Mac-mini as a render/storage machine to do all you heavy duty lifting.. and probably attach a 1TB drive to it, to store it. And you can keep your Macbook for your mobile needs..

Oh and btw, iMovie 08 is a complete waste for editing.. it's more like iPhoto for Movies..

P.S. You want to bring this up on 65bits? You could get more opinions..
