I think your best bet is to be in a startup environment or start a business of your own.

Startups generally are more lax on process and rules, and if you are your own boss, you can make your own rules.

However, if you are in a consultancy or sales role, oftentimes you still need to dress the part, unless your industry is the creative industry. Even then, you will still need to "dress the part" and look "creative". :)

Pay of course is the tricky one. No one ever thinks that they are paid enough. I don't know if startups can pay well, but if you are your own boss, obviously you can pay yourself whatever you want. :)

My question would be, which one of the 8 points you listed above aren't being fulfilled in your current job? ;)

@NTT How I wish I can join u. But me no programmer wor. :(

LOL @ Miss Loi's comment. Hmm... thanks for reminding. :P

@PB erm... erm.... ya, trying hard to think on a brighter side... but there's too many huge walls blocking my views. :(

@hyperX I fail at direct sales. I can't sale! Good salesperson needs to know how to lie. But I don't. :(

@Larry thanks for sharing. I think consultant job needs years of experience to build up. If only I can control and perceive more to stay in a job longer. Jacks of all trades but master of none. Hard to become a consultant I guess.

My current job (I think it qualifies as one) meets all your requirements, except for the last one - which can be a downer sometimes.

And I'm not trapped in that 18mth cycle because I continuously reinvent my services, e.g. moving from websites to consultancy to coaching, etc.

Working on different types of projects with different clients and unique challenges also keeps me from getting bored or burnt out.

Does such a job exist? You better believe it.
Good luck! :)

FYI, this job exists. You can either be a sales or direct sales person. All your criteria can be fulfilled and the only disadvantage is the unstable income. But if you work hard enough can might get yourself an even better income. And you're social kind of person, sales aren't going to be difficult for you. *support!*

Hmmm.. Actually I don't think such jobs are difficult to find.. I'd say mine cover almost ALL of your requirements.. :P

As for the 18 months theory.. Yea.. I guess that's true, unless you switch around your workplace, and take up different roles or projects. I've been here for 2 years.. and it's still FUN! :P
