The King’s Speech: Can you speak like a King?

Public speaking is a bitch! I personally hates it and will try at all my might to avoid when I can. The cold feet, butterflies in the stomach, sweaty palms and lost of words! I simply hated it!

On top of all the above anxieties, add stammering from young into the picture and the need to address the entire country! That’s what Bertie, King George VI, in The King’s Speech had to go through.

Story of the King’s struggle to overcome his stammer and how he managed to address his country at war with his determination in his war speech with help from a non-certified speech therapist, Lionel Logue.

An excellent movie that’s powerful, moving and at the same time hilarious! I ended up tearing when credit rolled.

  1. Sounds like a great movie to catch and I’m certainly planning to watch it soon. It’ll be especially relevant for me as I’ve been writing (or editing speeches) for Ministers, Chairpersons and CEOs for almost 14 years as part and parcel of my job. I always love a well written – and delivered – speech. :)

  2. From the movies that you have recommended so far, methinks you have an even lower threshold than me for weepy stuff.

8 down only The Social Network and Toy Story 3 to go.
