It’s official! I get to experience N.E.mation! 4 in person!!!! As part of my own enrichment and community engagement plan (*coughs* this sounds so National Service lah! But I really AM very very excited!) I am going to be the official blogger for the upcoming N.E.mation! 4! Yes! Me! Your official blogger! Encouraged by the success of the five TD animation clips featured in the National Day Rally in 2006, Nexus has organised N.E.mation! since 2007 to provide a creative platform for students to express their personal ideas about Total Defence.
This year in N.E.mation! 4, students will be asked to use their creativity to produce storylines centred around the theme of “Why I Care About Singapore“. The animation clips of the top ten finalist teams will be judged by industry professionals such as Dan Nguyen (Animator, Pixar Animation Studios). In addition, the public can vote for their three favourite clips come January 2010 at www.nemation.sg or via SMS. The winning team will win a coveted trip to visit DreamWorks Animation in the USA!!!
If you are eligible for this and wants to learn animation in a fun, engaging and challenging way, form your team of at least 3 members (up to 4) with your schoolmates and sign-up now! There’s free workshops to help in your creation of ideas before the contest begins. Very useful if you are really hardcore and wants to win that trip to DreamWorks Animation! NorthLight assists students at risk of ‘dropping out’ of formal education. Most of its students have failed their PSLE. The school offers education and training in retail operations, engineering and food preparation, with an emphasis on developing self esteem and life-skills.
All funds raised will support NorthLight’s Special Student Assistance Scheme, which helps need students to purchase food and study resources, and Grace Haven children’s shelter.
The PurpleStar project is also enabling NorthLight’s retail operations students to work with professional volunteers to experience the retail process first-hand, and gain valuable experiences as sales assistants at the sale.
“Helping a child from a deprived background get an education has a much greater impact on society than helping a middle class students get a distinction on his Special paper at A-levels. I am grateful to NorthLight for turning (my daughter’s) life around and giving her a real shot at a better futuer.” – Jimmy Yap, father of Helen (3FP2, NorthLight School)
Items that will be on sale includes evening gowns, coats and knitwear, business suits, casual wear from designers brands, including CK, DKNY, Ferragamo, Miu Miu and a selection of artwork and handicrafts produced by NorthLight students.
All items have been generously donated by friends of NorthLight School and are in “as new” condition.

I have a very long story to tell. But I need more time to blog and reenact what happened this morning. So first let’s congratulate all the winners who raced and reached the secret location!
All of these six have one thing in common, they were all standing by near to central Singapore and managed to dash to the final destination immediately after they decoded the clues. Everyone entered the room panting and trying to catch their breath. I feel very happy for the first six who arrived, but after that, every time someone stepped into the room, my heart will skip a beat and I felt very guilty. I wish I had 10 phones to give to all of them. Still, I would like to thank everyone who took part in Search for N.
And here are the winners who each brought home a brand new Nokia N97! Congrats once again!
