He has been my greatest inspiration and will always be. His speech given at 2005 Stanford Commencement, the three stories of his life, is my most watched video when I am in need of an inspiration boost.

He indirectly changed my life and made my life more efficient with Apple OS and the powerful and well designed gadgets. Without his vision I may not have done and accomplished what I have today.

Steve Jobs will always be remembered. RIP Steve. You’ll have a better life where you are now. And go kick butt up there! Help them revolutionize their world with great technology ok!

After going through two years of N.E.mation, my blood is still pumping with adrenaline comes voting phase! All 10 finalists spent great amount of time, put in lots of effort, perseverance and determination into their work. And now its time for judges and you to decide who wins the trip to DreamWorks USA!

Having watched the 10 clips, I’ve to say the competition gets tougher each year! Its even worst for me to decide who to vote as I’ve seen all 10 teams put in all their best into the production. If I run the mint, I would let all 10 teams fly to DreamWorks! They all deserve it! (Dream on Claudia!)

Help decide who wins! Your votes matter! 50% of the total score is from public voting. And from last year’s experience, it can totally change the faith of the teams! Four ways to vote for your favorite clips this year. Oh! And you stand a chance to win prizes too if the clip you voted wins! Pick your favorite clips wisely ok!

I laughed when I was told about this opportunity. Me? In SHAPE magazine? My perception of the magazine is where the slim, healthy and sunshine-type of women are featured. The monthly cover with perfect body female in bikini makes the pear-shaped body me feels motivated to want to slim off and be like the cover girl. After multiple attempts, many of us gave up. Some things are better left the way it is. Staying healthy is more important than having a to-die-for-figure. (Self-reassurance speaking)

The 3-page story, written by Esther, shares the story behind seven women whom SHAPE admires. I was labelled as the Entrepreneur, a young boss and one who embraces work-live balance. Well, all three relatively true in some ways. But I’ve to admit, it’s not 100% all the time, especially the work-life balance portion. In such hectic and fast paced reality, and still much in the infancy stage of the business, my team and I take every project we have very seriously and put in all we can to ensure it’s success. We are more than grateful if we can have a peaceful weekend to rest!

So, if you have not read the article about these seven women, go get yourself a copy. Might post up snapshot of my portion later in August.

Aside: @nadnut spotted me and tweeted my pic. And @jerricklim and @nanyate tweeted that I’m hot! I blushed. But personally, I prefer the camwhored photos with my 7D that day.

This was from two months back, but decide to post it up still so that I can remind myself about this in years to come. This blog has become part of my memory repository too, in case one day, I forget who I am or needs help in recalling portion of my life when I’m old. And my children and grandchildren can read about me too through this blog. Ha! Ok, back to the article on BT.

Companies reluctant to woo customers with tweet nothings

Nothing to comment on this right now since it was from two months ago. Progression and growth digitally is too fast too furious. Something two months ago may not be news anymore. Just want to post it up as a record for my own reference. And if you’d missed this, for your reading too.

If you’d read yesterday’s chinese papers, you would not have missed this huge photo of three black humans with two macbooks and an iPhone on the cover of zbNOW (Zaobao Now).

That’s @claudia10 (me), @howiec and @patlaw with our twitter page.

This interview happened when the journalist from Zao Bao contacted TDM to see if anyone of us are able to share more about Twitter with him. And after a few emails, Howie confirmed the interview with Fong Wei and we met at Geek Terminal one evening for the interview. Coincidentally, I’d met Fong Wei and his photographer previously at the Volvo Ocean Race with Puma.

When I saw the article on my desk yesterday (thanks to molemole), my jaws dropped. I had no idea it would be a cover story for zbNOW and such a long one too! To be honest, I had lots of problem trying to read past the first paragraph. Too many of the characters know me more than I know them. So thanks to @melvinkee and @shenheng, we had an english translated version, which was rather hilarious reading through it. You can also find the online copy of this article in mandarin here.

In brief, the part where I contributed is on how locals whom I’m following are using Twitter. Based on my researched while I try to find all Singapore Tweeters via @sgtweet.

Quoting from the article (with help from Google Translator and my own editing):

The local community media (social media) consultants Lin Yiling (28) as part of her job, she started to “follow” Singaporeans on Twitter whom she do not know, to understand how they use the latest craze in new media. According to her observation, the local Twitter users are between 20-year-old to 30-year-old, mostly joined because artists in the United States are using Twitter, there are also a lot of youths whom joined to follow their idols’ or artists’ tweets, this narrows the distance between fans and stars.

She said: “I found a lot of new members in fact do not know the purpose of Twitter, after they joined, most only have a one-way following of celebrities such as Ryan Seacrest, Britney Spears, but these tweeters do not have much (or any) followers. They are also not active in their tweet update.”

She also found that these new members are not making full use of Twitter interactive two-way communication capabilities (yet), instead only <s>shit like diarrhea</s> tweet about mundane things (that’s happening in their life). But over time, they will begin to enter the situation.

Some people think that a lot of Twitter users are too vague and general and only “reported” themselves what has been done or where they went, but Lin Yiling believes that a lot of people being the “kaypoh” Singaporeans would want to find out what their friends are doing, and hence start to join Twitter.

The above I’m only quoting the part where I was mentioned. Pat’s part was about the recent #awaresg tweeting and trending and Howie shared about the use of Twitter as a crowd-sourcing tool. And the big portion of the article shared what Twitter is and the usual lingo used and how it works. In fact, the best way to learn about Twitter is to get an account and test it out yourself! If you need any help, and have a day to spare, we can meet up for a chat and let me share more with you. Of course coffee on you!

Will be sharing more about Twitter and the things I discover during my research soon over at 24seven blog. This post might not be out so soon, since my schedule is pretty packed for the next few weeks. Will be drafting the post in bits daily.

If you’d managed to read Straits Times today, you would have seen my big round face plastered on page A6. And ya, I’ve put on weight! LOL!

Gen Y gets down to work is written by Sandra Davis. She was also the one who did the previous Gen Y story where I laid down on the grass with my gadgets. Its very nice of her to remember me and got in touch for this latest piece.

She told me the piece will come out sometime this week and when my phone started ringing non-stop with SMSes since 10am, I knew its out.

The Beginning
Sandra dropped an email asking how I was coping with the recession. I shared what I did and how I try to maintain low running cost so that I can help my clients save too. And I do not see the recession as a downfall but a great opportunity. That’s why I started 24seven.

The photoshoot
Two weeks ago, I received a call from Sandra asking for a shoot and I was already out having a meeting with my team and not dressed for any shoot. But as it was urgent, I just had to do it. Praying that the photo will not be as big as the previous one. Well, it wasn’t as big, but it was a close up!

Thanks Desmond for the shoot. It was a fun session with many aunties and uncles passing by and stopping to see who was the subject being photographed. Sorry to disappoint them. There were two bounce light and even the umbrella reflector was used! It was ermm… very embarrassing lah! Doing this shoot at the crowded Chinatown area during Chinese New Year season somemore!

The Article
Here’s a shot of the print in Straits Times…

It was a very small mention of me in the long article, and am very shocked that my photo was the only one used and it had to take up such a big space. As @rabiz from Gothere.sg tweet “the writeup is not proportionate to the size of the picture“. Which is very true.

If you’d missed the article, you can read it online at Straits Times Digital.

Quoting the small part where I was mentioned…

With my big round face photo…

Ms Claudia Lim, 27, saw opportunity in the downturn and set up a consultancy to help firms market themselves online. She is one of many Gen Y workers proving resilient to hard times and a tough job market.

In the article…

Some like Ms Claudia Lim, 27, have already plunged into setting up their own businesses. Ms Lim set up a social media consultancy firm, 24seven, to help businesses market themselves through blogs and websites.

‘I don’t see a downturn, just more opportunities,’ says the technology-savvy Ms Lim who holds a business diploma from the poly and a teaching diploma from the National Institute of Education.

Really got to thanks Sandra for this and mentioning 24seven in the article.

If you would like to find out more about what I do, feel free to contact me or check our my company’s about page and FAQ page.

Updated on 11 Feb 2009: There’s another photo of my team and I in discussion too here.

Sony is recalling these machines for inspection and repair.

When I got home today, I saw this chinese newspaper clipping on my table. I think mum left it for me to take note. Not sure if this news is on the English papers or not, but I thought I should just post it here for those who don’t read the papers. (Like me!) Furthermore, I know of some friends who’re using Sony. So ya… please take note of the following…

Sony has recently discovered that limited number of VAIO “TZ series” notebook computers sold between May 2007 and Aug 2008 may, in rare cases, generate heat around the DC jack inlet and frame of LCD screen, which creates the potential of deformation of the plastic casing.

As part of our ongoing commitment to customer satisfaction and safety, Sony is offering a free inspection and repair service to owners of applicable models. For customers with the applicable models, we request you to please contact your nearest Sony Service Centre @ 6473 6500 for the inspection arrangement.

This wasn’t how I intended to do as my first blog post after reviving my blog from my short hiatus. But when Mum told me that the man killed was the father of my tutor, I felt an ache in my heart. It always hit me when I hear death of someone whom I know or someone close to someone I know.

I’ve never met her father, but I know my tutor and her sister. They’re both very nice people. She’s my first tutor and until today, she’ll still ask about me when she sees my mother at the coffee shop. And through my mum, I know about how the two sisters are doing.

I first heard about the case over radio while on the road. I was sad that such things happened to a friendly old man, as reported by the press. But when I heard that the man was father of my tutor, I feel worst. I hope whoever that may know what happened help solve this case. Don’t be selfish. Cooperate with the police. I’m sure the family needs and wants to know who, what or why it happened.

Condolences to the victim’s family.
