I admit I’m not a beer person. But this case looks pretty cool for my iPhone don’t you think so too?

From 15 April to 15 May 2010, you can redeem a limited edition Tiger Platinum phone case with every purchase of one six-can pack of Tiger Beer at participating outlets such as NTUC Fairprice & Hypermart, Carrefour, Cold Storage, Shop N Save, Giant and others.
I’m going to buy a 6-can pack for my Dad tonight so that I can redeem for my Tiger Beer iPhone casing!! Ho! Ho!
Have you seen the cute mini Tiger cans I got from delivery man? Love them!
Updates:
16 April, night: I tried asking NTUC at Hougang Mall and the bigger one outside, both don’t know of this promotion. Can’t find details on their website too. Shall check the thumbdrive at office again tml to see if I’d missed out anything.
17 April, night: Went to Cold Storage at Tampines1 and Giant Tampines today to try my luck. Still no one knows about this on-going promotion. Anyone has got any clue as to when and how we can get hold of the phone cases?
20 April, night: I checked with the PR folks of Tiger Beer and they clarified: “Essentially, even though the promotion started from 15 April, it was being implemented progressively throughout the participating outlets. The iPhone cases should now be available at all the mentioned outlets.” – I’ve yet gone to any of the outlets yet, will give it another try by this week. Wish me luck!
During his March school term break and both of us needed to get away from the stress at work for awhile and spend quality time together. So we had an impromptu getaway to Sentosa. And we rediscovered the fun things we can do at this small “island”! Now we’re planning for one more in December! Who says going on holiday has to fly? We just drive! Or you can just ride the SEX in! Ya… Sentosa EXpress from Vivo!
While we planned this trip, we didn’t know that it was also the soft opening for Universal Studio. When we knew about it, we thought we’ll be stuck in major jam going into Sentosa. Glad that didn’t happen. Traffic was smooth and the place wasn’t as packed as we thought.
We didn’t get chance on the first day to dip into the cool pool at Siloso Beach Resort. The waterfall is enticing us to get in there quick.

Happened to be at Sentosa on the day for Universal Studio Singapore’s soft launch. Without a ticket, we thought we wouldn’t have a chance to enter, but we still went ahead for a walk around Resort World Sentosa.
Universal Studio SingaporeThere was a long queue outside the entrance in the late noon. Wonder if those folks got to go on all the rides before the theme park closes at 6pm. (Which we didn’t know when we were there.) We hang around nearby and visited Hershey’s Chocolate World, had our dinner at Chili’s and was about to leave the place. This was when we saw no queue at the entrance and people were going in and out of Universal Studio without showing any tickets! Oh! It’s open to public after 6pm! (At least that was what happened that night!) Hope this is how they roll! Everyone can then enter to shop and dine and check out the interesting buildings in there.
Read MoreDid you catch Chingay 2010 on TV just now? What’s your take on it? Did you enjoy watching the parade? Having had my chance to finally watch Chingay live this year (with a ticket entrance), I was very excited while waiting for the day to come. However when I was finally there, seated at K189, the feel I was expecting wasn’t quite felt. Still it was an enjoyable night, thanks to the appearance of Kung Fu Panda, Puss in boots and the other characters from Resort World Sentosa at the finale.
Mascots from RWS at ChingayI’m sure you do! His face was plastered everywhere in Singapore when he mysteriously escaped from detention in February 2008. And was recaptured in Johor Bahru on April 1, 2009. This major event had surfaced an important team of people whom we, the general public, don’t really see or know about. I’m talking about the Internal Security Department.

“Huh? What Internal? What’s that?” – that’s your reaction right? Yap! Mine too! But thanks to this opportunity to help spread words about the career fair for Ministry of Home Affairs (and also thanks to help from google), I am now less bimbo-tic on such things. *coughs*
Alright, so what is ISD? And what do they do? If you want to read the corporate and proper version about ISD, please go here. I am going to try explain it based on my own understanding.
This group of people working at ISD manages and deals with highly classified stuff, hence there are little awareness about them and what they do. But there is a wiki page on them with not much information either.
To put ISD’s work in context, the following are some of the key events which involved the resources from the Internal Security Department…
- The Maria Hertogh riots in 1950. This you cannot not know about right? We study about this riot back in school.
- In 1965, the MacDonald House bombing by Indonesian saboteurs that killed 3 people.
- The bombing attack plot by the Jemaah Islamiyah (JI) in 2001.
- And the recent (and my title for this post) long manhunt for Mas Selamat.

Being in the almost forefront of the digital space here in Singapore, and thanks to the many good friends whom I’d met throughout the journey, I’ve got a few opportunities to share about my thoughts and experiences in the social media community with traditional mainstream media journalists. Usually there will either be an email interview or a phone interview. Sometimes there may be a meetup at a cafe where the interview is conducted. Being who I am, I will share whatever I know openly with those who really are keen to learn and write a well prepared article.
But when the journalist tell me that she’d failed to search the web for information or find blog posts about the topic in discussion, it irritates me. If I can use a single keyword, e.g. the name of an even to find an entire page of blogs posts discussing about it in Google, I don’t see why you can’t. Now that I think about it, I regretted sending links and information over to them. It’s their job to search and investigate, not mine.
Blogging has helped me record my life, happenings and memories in a way that’s openly searched, read and used by anyone that chances upon my blogs. Some of these posts come in very useful for future referencing or if there’s a need to provide a set of comment with regards to that particular event that happened months ago, blog posts surely serve a better memory refresher than trying to squeeze your braincell dry trying to remember what happened or who were there etc. Especially if you keep your posts organised and accompany it with related photos, videos or links, referencing back your past is made easy and possible through blogging.
Every journalists, in the digital space or not, need to get into the talks and walks first, before trying to make sense of something totally new to them and try to draft an article on it based on interviews and hear-say from others. Why not take the plunge and dive into it yourself and experience it? That’s one thing bloggers love. Experiencing things first hand. We would rather spend time attending an event and trying out the product in real life, then just reading off a press release. We take action first and blog later.
Are you picking up social media tools and learning to be human in the digital space already? I hope you do!
30th December came and go in a flash. It was one of the biggest gathering of bloggers 24seven has hosted since its birth in Dec 2008. Yes, technically speaking, that party could also be seen as to mark the first year anniversary for 24seven. Happy Birthday 24seven! LOL!

The door bitches of that night. Molemole, me and Eevon.
