Weekend Staycation at Changi Village Hotel Singapore

August 19, 2011  |  Travel Guide  |  Buffet Breakfast, Canon S95, Changi Village Hotel, East Singapore, Rediscover Singapore, Roof top pool, Saltwater Cafe, Singapore hotel, staycation  |  No Comments

After the first, there’ll always be a second and a third… and… more staycations! One new item added to my bucket list is to stay in as many hotels in Singapore as I can and share my staycation experience! Wahahahaha! *continue to dream*

Last weekend we took a short break at the eastern part of Singapore at Changi Village Hotel.

Feels good to be away from the buzz and crowd in town. And with the hotel near the beach, it gives us a resort style feel to it, with sighting of planes landing towards Changi Airport, from the pool deck.

Staycation at Meritus Mandarin Singapore

August 1, 2011  |  Rediscover Singapore, Travel Guide  |  Canon S95, Meritus Mandarin Singapore, Singapore hotel, staycation, Travel Guide  |  4 comments

In June we went on a short getaway in Singapore. Yes! In Singapore! I kinda like the idea of staycation cos it saves time, no need for any flight delay and we are less tired at the end of it cos there’s no long traveling nor waiting hours as compared to trips oversea.

A 3D2N staycation at Meritus Mandarin Singapore started on Friday, 10 June. When we were planning this, we did not check the event schedule and not sure if its good or bad, that’s the PC show weekend at Suntec! We had to battle with the crowd around the hotel. The stay could have been better if the shopping crowd wasn’t so crazy then.

One thing that got me quite upset was the room we were given. Upon check-in, we were upgraded to an executive deluxe room (we booked a deluxe room) and when we entered the room, stayed for awhile, we realized the air-conditioning wasn’t working. The room was warm even after like 20minutes of cooling. We called the reception and the technician came to check, he insisted that we didn’t turn-on the aircon hence its not cooling. Truth is, the first thing he did upon entering our room was to touch the aircon control next to the bed and HE turned it off! Not wanting to argue, we let the matter past and he said the aircon was working fine, left and we waited.

Pretty Stationery from Ri Stationers

July 4, 2011  |  Stationary  |  Acid Free, Journals, Notebooks, Ri Stationers, Stationery, Wheelock Place  |  3 comments

Spotted this 3-month old shop at Wheelock and I hope they’ll come up with more pretty stationery soon. I was told by the lady working in there that these are designed in Singapore. Support locals!

Ri Stationers

I was told the journals/papers are acid free too! Great for preserving memories. Bought some customizable journals as gifts from Ri Stationers. Hope the receivers will love it as much as I do.

Skin Tone Improves with White Lucent Serum

June 17, 2011  |  Beauty Guide  |  Claud talks Beauty, shiseido, White Lucent  |  No Comments

After three months of twice daily application, I do see an improvement in the color tone on my face. I used to have uneven skin tone and looks yellowish at times. Now the color is more balanced and I do look fairer. I believe credit for this improvement goes to Shiseido White Lucent Intensive Spot Targeting Serum which I was first introduced in March. $159 for 3 months of usage, its not that expensive afterall. I’m on my 2nd bottle now, which I bought on White Day.

The other products in the range are finishing soon; either that or I aren’t using them as regularly as the serum. I’m a very lazy woman lah. Skin care is a touch and go thing for me. Morning and before sleep cleanse, tone and serum. That’s it.

Anyone of you using the serum too? Or has got other recommendation that worked? Would love to hear from you.

Ideas for Small Houses

May 20, 2011  |  Lifestyle  |  2011, Dream Home, Functional Houses, Interior Design, Small Houses, youtube  |  No Comments

Reality check: Houses in Singapore is becoming smaller and smaller and pricing raising and raising. We’re in the stage of looking for a suitable nest and facing many problems. Location is one, size and price is also major concerns.

We both agree that the house should not be too big as keeping it clean is going to be tedious chore. But it should be able to fit our family (of four perhaps) in it comfortably.

While the search for our nest is on-going, saving few interesting videos of very small homes that’s functional and pretty cool here for future references. I’m always amazed at these houses!

Makan at Joo Chiat

May 6, 2011  |  Food Guide  |  Claud talks Food, Eating Places, Joo Chiat  |  1 Comment

Its been 3 weeks since we moved to our new studio at Joo Chiat Road.

And yes, we are now known as Dice Studio! That’s our signboard at our entrance. Nice?

Before we moved here, we were excited about the vast variety of food outlets around and the options we will have. Alas, when we finally settled and started going lunch daily, we realised options though plenty, it just isn’t as economy as compared to when we were at Upper Serangoon Shopping Centre. All of us miss Jia Yi Curry Fish Head stall very much. So grass isn’t always brighter nor greener on the other side. Ok, I talking cock liao.

So what have I been eating at Joo Chiat so far? Keeping a food diary on Facebook to help me keep track, and here I’ll share some of my hits and misses.

Keep Zits Out with LMS Spotlights

April 8, 2011  |  Beauty Guide  |  Claud talks Beauty, LMS Spotlights, red light therapy  |  No Comments

“我感觉有pimple要pop出来我就用,果然pimple就不出来了!”

That’s what my Mum told me after she tried the LMS Spotlights. I equipped her with the range of LMS Spotlights – 24, 8 and 3, few weeks ago, and she’s been using it every night before she sleeps. Though the recommended usage is to do it three times a day, Mum said she don’t have time to use so many times. She does carry the LMS 8 in her bag wherever she goes. I can picture her using it in the car while my Dad drives them back from work. Beep beep beep beep… for one minute.
