Last weekend we took a short break at the eastern part of Singapore at Changi Village Hotel.

Feels good to be away from the buzz and crowd in town. And with the hotel near the beach, it gives us a resort style feel to it, with sighting of planes landing towards Changi Airport, from the pool deck.

In June we went on a short getaway in Singapore. Yes! In Singapore! I kinda like the idea of staycation cos it saves time, no need for any flight delay and we are less tired at the end of it cos there’s no long traveling nor waiting hours as compared to trips oversea.

A 3D2N staycation at Meritus Mandarin Singapore started on Friday, 10 June. When we were planning this, we did not check the event schedule and not sure if its good or bad, that’s the PC show weekend at Suntec! We had to battle with the crowd around the hotel. The stay could have been better if the shopping crowd wasn’t so crazy then.

One thing that got me quite upset was the room we were given. Upon check-in, we were upgraded to an executive deluxe room (we booked a deluxe room) and when we entered the room, stayed for awhile, we realized the air-conditioning wasn’t working. The room was warm even after like 20minutes of cooling. We called the reception and the technician came to check, he insisted that we didn’t turn-on the aircon hence its not cooling. Truth is, the first thing he did upon entering our room was to touch the aircon control next to the bed and HE turned it off! Not wanting to argue, we let the matter past and he said the aircon was working fine, left and we waited.
Read MoreWhat an experience it had been at my debute appearance at ZoukOut! *coughs* Sounds as if I was there to DJ or perform! Ha! I spent more time walking from one entrance to the next than dancing on the sand (which I didn’t quite enjoy). Sand and Claudia just doesn’t gel well together you see.

The night was short and sweet for me. My body was aching and screaming for attention even before midnight. It was still an eye opener for this mountain tortoise who’ve never stepped into ZoukOut for the past 9 years. When I finally get to step into one, its already their 10th anniversary! Can’t believe the Mambo Queen in me waited 10 years to realised how much I’d missed out on. And now I’m just too old to boogie much. Boo!
Read MoreThe title kinda sum up my sentiments for The Arena Spectacular. I’m amazed and wowed by the engineering and design that went into producing the show, but the show and story itself was alright only. Before watching it, I was told it’ll be like watching a National Geographic show on dinosaurs and expect little actions nor blood. But when I’m finally in the National Indoor Stadium, seated in a Cat 3 ($78/ticket) area on an uncomfortable chair, I was rather disappointed.

Using miniature effect of Sol, trying to make Dino look bigger
First by the long wait (10minutes) for the show which was supposed to start at 8pm. Then despite being reminded twice over the public announcement system, “Flash photography is strictly NOT allowed during the show”, flashes of all sizes and power came on the moment the first dinosaur appeared. We were pissed. The lady behind us were scolding all the flashing photographers stupid and cursing that their photos will turn out black, which we knew would most probably end up looking. Who in the right mind uses a point-and-shoot with inbuilt flash while trying to shoot from like 5m away from the subject in a 90% dark huge hall?
Read MoreOne day, I woke up and decided I shall have Sashimi for lunch. Instead, I had Sashimi for both lunch and dinner! It was a day of Sashimi Overload! Still failed to find fresher and juicier sashimi than those I had at Standing Sushi Bar at 8 Queen Street.
First stop was at Standing Sushi Bar at 1 Raffles Place, their first outlet. Though its still good, but I felt that the salmon sashimi was not as great as compared to those I had at 8Q. Perhaps its the quality of shipment that day? Still it was a good lunch, standing. :P

Whoever’s going to or coming back from Tokyo, you gotta bring back some of these yummilicious snacks for your friends! I’ve checked and these are not available in Singapore. Well at least not the real deal. Tried the similar kind, but nothing beats the real deal from Tokyo.
