In order to catch the sound, smell and action of the F1 first night race in Singapore, we headed down to Suntec City to immerse ourselves into the heat of the hot hot race. Yes! It was hot in many ways! But here I’m going to share my experience and interesting things I saw at the first Singapore F1 Grand Prix…

We arrived at Suntec City at 7pm. Quickly grab our dinner and joined the many who were already waiting along the race track outside Suntec City. Behind us, at Balacava Bar, many LCD TVs and two projector screens were showing the race Live on Star Sports. So the plan for those standing there was to turn to the track when the F1 cars drive by and turn back to watch the race on the screens at Balacava Bar. Smart right?

But because we didn’t pay for the walkabout tickets, all we could see was lights zooming by the road covered with the giant black canvas. But we could hear the roaring of the F1 cars and smell the burnt tires and also see the smoke from some of the cars.

Here’s a video to show you exactly what we managed to catch…

This was the taken at the start of the race
where all the F1 cars raced by at the same time.
Turn on your volume!

What was more interesting was the people around. Due to the limited and pathetic view from our location, everyone had to go as high as possible to view over the covered portion. Some managed to climb higher and some tried to reach as high as possible with their cameras hoping to catch the F1 cars zooming past. There were a few shot I got of the more interesting people around me.

And may I present the 5 winners for tonight’s F1 Grand Prix…

Winner #1 – Uncle in checked shirt

Winner #2- Father and Son in red

If only I was that tiny and light!

Winner #3 – Uncle with handphone camera

He was stretching as high and far as he could! I wonder what he caught on his video.
I was only worried that he might fall. Good thing he balanced well.

Winner #4 – Men with camcorder on tripod

Why didn’t I think of that? LOL!

Winner #5 – The big group of us sitting outside Suntec City

We could watch the race and know what happened throughout the racecourse on the huge screen! And we had super surround sound of the F1 cars driving past us! We’re the biggest winners lah! Wahahahaha!!

I’m looking forward to the next race! And we’re sure going to get those tickets early! Saving up for the grandstand tickets with the huge screen! LOL!
