The Internet is DEVIL

July 8, 2008  |  Communities, The Woman  |  A:friends, Communities, internet, Personal, Thoughts  |  4 comments

I’ve been greatly disturbed and distracted by many things that happened lately. Now that I’ve my thoughts almost sorted out, perhaps its time for me to post it.

I was looking for a phrase or a few words to describe the mess created by bloggers. And “The Internet is DEVIL” came to mind. Seriously I blame it all to the INTERNET! Due to the convenience and speed information is being passed around the Internet, everyone’s taking advantage and many have forgotten the real world. The world where touch and smiles are exchanged.

I admit I spent too much time online. Too much time wasted on the Internet. But after witnessing so much things that could happen within such a used-to-be-closely knitted group of people. Its scaring me. Have everyone forgot about how it feels to hurt someone? Scolding and bitching about a person is so much easier online. Try doing that in real life. If you’re human, will you do this to your friends or even people whom you’re only acquittance with? Being an online gangster is much simple as you only need to use your fingers and words to kill. Really, words can kill. And worst still, online-killing can be anonymous! Use whatever nicknames you want and post comments everywhere. It allows anyone to have multiple identities. Maybe those very close to you may be the ones adding on to the fire! It’s really seriously very very scarey! Hence one should learn what to be taken seriously and what to just read-and-forget. Perhaps someone should try filming “Catch me if you can 2 – the online version”.

I have friends whom I’d met online from forums and mIRC more than 10 years ago. Up till today, we’re still friends. And I treasure these friendship. And I’m going to treasure all the new ones found on the communities I’m now active in. No matter if I’m still in the community or not. I believe real friends will never break-up due to things other friends or acquaintance say. As friends, we should trust what we see and believe in them. And not judge them based on what others say.

Very often, my instincts are almost 99% true. When I get to know someone, I’ll usually be able to tell whether or not we will ever become friends or forever remains as the “Hi! Bye!” group of friends. And the remaining 1%, its when I missed interpreted and trusted the wrong kind.

Looking at all that happened, for the past year, my instincts has been pretty accurate.

Battle of Local Vodcast Production

June 4, 2008  |  Communities  |  Entertainment, Free, internet, Media, On demand, show, singapore, social media, Technology, Videos, Vodcast  |  4 comments

Much has been talked and heard about on the case of Blogger’s Treat and Podfire. And then many started comparing Blogger’s Treat and Small Girl Big Appetite. Then there’s the stimulating teaser by Sweets.sg. All these to me are good sign for the much talk about Social Media scene in Singapore. More and more individuals and bloggers are talking about creating their own shows and everyone wants a piece of this new trend.

Just like the then battle of T-C-S-8 and C-H-A-N-N-E-L-U, the bigger player wins and the smaller one got bought over. But those are the big big players and probably the only player that’s in the media broadcast business locally. So there’s really nothing that any smaller player can do.

But now with the advancement of technology and the increasing use of internet for entertainment purpose, the big players started providing video-on-demand sites for internet users to enjoy their program anywhere anytime (with a small amount of monthly subscriptions). However, for alternative and FREE entertainment online, (Internet is FREE isn’t it?) users are going to YouTube, Vimeo, TuDou, Pomoho and many many other video hosting sites.

But now… we the people of this nation are trying to step into the online entertainment scene. Providing yet another alternative for users of the Internet to go to for entertainment. And almost anyone and everyone can become a self-proclaimed producer or director overnight. With the right tools, concept and skills, everyone can have their own show in the world of Internet! Fantastic isn’t it?

There’re so many users online, and there’s no limitation like fixed showtime, missing out of any show, having to pay to watch the show etc etc. Internet is 24-7 isn’t it? And the show will always be there! So if you missed one episode, you’ll still be able to catch it anytime you want.

Sooo the question is why is everyone so “troubled” by what’s happening behind the scenes of these productions? Just because bloggers are the one doing the show, it doesn’t mean that they should be airing out their thoughts so openly on their blogs too. Work is work. If one is so openly sharing their personal life in their blog, and mixed work with this. It just doesn’t sound and look professional isn’t it?

(Ok, I think I’m sidetracking a little too far. Back to my initial point…)

My point is, there’s no need to fight about these things ya. Everyone who watches SGBA can also be audience of Blogger’s Treats and Sweets.sg (<<----VERY Looking forward to this one!) right? As long as the show is worth watching, there'll sure be their loyal fans and followers. So concentrate on the production instead of the battling part k.

AND!!!
Don’t forget!!!

How to stop browser from auto closing?

April 21, 2008  |  Her Complains  |  internet, mac, macbook, problem, troubleshoot  |  4 comments

Every since I upgraded my macbook to Leopard OS, everytime I surf the net, my browser will auto close on me! I’d tried it with Firfox, Camino, Flock and Safari! What the hell is wrong with my installation?

I am so pissed when the browser auto closes and I had to loose all my previously typed data! And whenever I read something, it auto closes on me! How am I suppose to enjoy my surfing like that? This is sooo frustrating! Anyone got solution for me?
